Mission
The Gap We Fill
Existing gear review platforms optimize for affiliate revenue, not decision quality. A 4.5-star rating tells you nothing about whether a shell's breathability justifies its weight penalty for your specific conditions.
ROKVEN replaces subjective reviews with multi-axis performance scoring. We deconstruct products at the material level, run them through constraint-based optimization algorithms, and surface the gear that actually solves your problem.
We're building the platform we wished existed as alpinists, trail runners, and backcountry travelers — one that treats gear selection with the same rigor we apply to route planning.
How We Work
Core Principles
Data Over Opinion
Every score is derived from measurable performance vectors — warmth-to-weight ratios, hydrostatic head ratings, MVTR breathability data. We don't do subjective star ratings.
Material Science First
We deconstruct gear at the fabric level. GORE-TEX membranes, Coreloft insulation batts, Pertex quantum shields — every layer is analyzed independently and in system.
Algorithmic Optimization
Our loadout engine uses constrained optimization (0/1 knapsack via dynamic programming) to find the mathematically optimal kit for your conditions. Not a recommendation — a solution.
Field-Validated
Catalog specs are blended with field review data at a 70/30 split. Lab numbers tell you what gear can do. Field data tells you what it actually does.
